Root Causes
Sex trafficking can be social, political, and an economic cause. But sex trafficking has the root causes of poverty, lack of education and health care, lack of respect, and undocumented status of immigrants for political issue. Sex trafficking can be related to corruption because it's an organized crime where these traffickers take the victims and force them into prostitution right after they filled their heads up with so many lies. it has to deal with border control because the traffickers bring in people from other countries to the united states to prostitute them.
The destruction of economies in war and the displacement of people is at a high level. In the United States, sex slavery exists because we have ignored how prostitution works, and most people have no idea that the average age of entry into prostitution is between 12 and 14. Finally, sex trafficking is incredibly profitable because traffickers do not pay their slaves, so all of their revenue goes directly to profits. Yearly, the sex slave industry generates billions of dollars in profits, and has one of the greatest profit margins of any industry worldwide. Based on 2007 data, the average annual profit per sex slave ranged from $11,349 in Africa up to $78,196 in Western Europe, with a worldwide weighted average of $29,210. With these statistics, we can know that the women and men are being sold, and we know now that those whom were virgins are always worth more than those who aren't. And they get no profit from them, they have to give themselves up without knowing what is really behind the person and they still not get anything in return.
Critical Perspective
Sex trafficking has a feminists criticism perspective, because most of the victims are women. They are usually taken for granted, because men believe women are gullible and believe that what they say they will make them fall. The women are usually the ones that are being trafficked and we would normally always see it like that on tv shows, movies, the media anywhere. For example the movie Chosen is a sex trafficking movie, and the guy wants to make the girl fall in love so he can traffic her, a normal routine for these traffickers, but the guy ends up falling in love and has to face consequences if he don't turn the girl in.
