Before Sex Trafficking was going on it all started by Human Trafficking / Slavery. Though slavery has been banned across the globe, more than 29 million people are living in slavery, the greatest number in history. Some 15,000 people are being trafficked each year right here in the U.S. for purposes of forced labor or sexual exploitation.
Sex trafficking began during the African Slave Trade. The victims were seen as sex object since there was no money they started selling them and trading them.
Many victims become romantically involved with someone who then forces and manipulates them into prostitution. Others are ruled in with false promises of a job, such as modeling or dancing. Vulnerable populations are frequently targeted by traffickers, including runaway and homeless youth, as assault, war, or social discrimination.
