How is this issue seen nationally? Which cities and states have also experienced this injustice?
Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery in which traffickers use force, fraud, or coercion to control victims for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts or labor services against his/her will. Sex trafficking has been found in a wide variety of venues within the sex industry, including residential brothels, escort services, fake massage businesses, strip clubs, and street prostitution. Labor trafficking has been found in diverse labor settings including, domestic work, small businesses, large farms, and factories. According to NHTRC In the U.S. top cities with sex trafficking is California with 305 cases reported. Second top is Texas with 141 cases reported. Finally Florida with 136 human trafficking cases reported. Number of cases being reported in year 2012 was 3,279 with 13,325 calls. Until now 2016 the numbers of cases reported has decreased to 1,654 but with high rate of calls with 6,051. Total rate of females missing with 1,378 and rate of Males 178, Gender Minorities with a rate of 12. Adults being the highest sex trafficking rate with a 1,007 and 546 for minor rates. This demonstrates how the most missing are adults with a high rating.
What national efforts have taken place to address this issue?
Nationally there has been services or hotlines that help people find a solution to their problem. There has been plenty of organizations that contributes to sex trafficking by helping adults and children with their illness. There is 3 Supportive Counseling in Chicago and Survivor Leaderships that help people with their disorders. Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation (CAASE) is an organization that serves minors who are 14 years or older. Services they provide are Sex Trafficking, Foreign National, Transgender Female-to-Male, Transgender Male-to-Female, US Citizen/Legal Permanent Resident. Which this organization is located in 307 N. Michigan Ave., Ste. 1818, Chicago, IL. Also the U.S.A have amber alerts that go through the whole U.S.A once someone goes missing. There is also other organizations out of the united states that support people with sickness thanks to the cause of sex trafficking. One of the best supportive foundations i have found has been ‘’Hope For Justice’’ that helps find people and help them be cured.
